I'm not sure how this blog thing works but I just really wanted to post something about the book Blue Like Jazz. I have to admit I didn't get to read the chapter before we met last night - huge slacker - I know. But.. I read it today - does that count? Anyway, I loved the last sentence from the chapter: "If we are not willing to wake up in the morning and die to ourselves, perhaps we should ask ourselves whether or not we are really following Jesus." The illustration he used of washing dishes (common household chore) - hit home with me. So often I forget that instead of getting upset about something like this (what does getting upset do anyway?) I should die to myself and serve someone. I enjoy serving others - but I forget the common ways of doing it. Anyway, I hope my ramblings make sense so someone out there.. just something to think about and remind myself of...
